Quite recently, the Government, led by the President Irfaan Ali, had a national cleanup campaign and we saw that it was a success. However, what I cannot fathom is that we are hosting these campaigns maybe multiple times a year across our nation yet some city councils that are led by the opposition cannot get simple tasks correct. One such simple task I’ll give an example of below: garbage collection.
Residents of some parts of Campbellville have to deal with the usual nonsense of not having garbage collected on time or at times not at all and this has been ongoing for the last three (3) weeks. What can possibly cause this health hazard? Is it that contractors are not paid on time to pick up garbage? Is it that we need more contractors?
Maybe it is time the Min of Local Government invests in recycling plants for each township and have different contractors dealing with this collection of garbage.
