Buxton Stars rewarded for Sweet 16 Football triumph

Buxton Stars received their prizes for winning the East Coast Sweet 16 Football Championship during the official presentation ceremony at the club’s community centre ground yesterday.

Buxton Stars defeated Pele 1-0 to walk away with the coveted title. They received $500,000, the championship trophy, and medals. Meanwhile, Pele pocketed $200,000 and the second-place trophy and medals.

Santos, who bested Mahaica Determinators 4-2 on penalty kicks in the third-place playoff, received $100,000 and the corresponding trophy and medals. Mahaica pocketed $75,000 and a trophy.

On the individual side, Joshua Bentick of Pele secured the highest goal scorer award, while Shawn Edwards copped the best goalkeeper accolade.
