Guyana remains unbeaten in team tournament

Caribbean Senior Squash Championships

Guyana continued their unbeaten run in the team segment of the Caribbean Senior Squash Championships following wins in the men’s and women’s segments yesterday.

In the women’s division, Guyana thrashed Trinidad and Tobago 5-0 in their first fixture. Ashley Khalil (Guyana) crushed Chloe Walcott 11-2, 11-2, 11-0, Ashley De Groot dispatched Faith Gillezeau 11-2, 11-2, 11-5, and Larissa Wiltshire mauled Sigourney Williams 11-3, 11-1, 11-1.

Similarly, Akeila Wiltshire downed Josie Thong 11-2, 11-4, 11-2, and Kirsten Gomes made light work of Karissa Mungal 11-1, 11-1, 11-1.

Guyana then whipped the Cayman Islands 4-0. Mary Fung-A-Fat thrashed Emma 11-4, 11-7, 11-6, while De Groot brushed aside Caroline Laing 11-7, 11-7, 11-6, and Larissa thrashed Kali Maclean 11-9, 11-2, 11-5. Gomes dispatched Courtney Stafford 11-1, 11-2, 11-4.

In the men’s pool, Guyana defeated Jamaica 4-0. Alex Arjoon defeated Tahjia Lumley (Jamaica) 8-11, 11-7, 12-10, 11-5, while Daniel Ince bested Adam Ardito (Jamaica) 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 11-6, and Jason-Ray Khalil dismantled Dane Schwier 15-13, 11-4, 15-13.

Sam Ince-Carvahal (Guyana) thumped Aaron Levy 11-4, 11-3, 11-3.
