A family on the Corentyne  has been plunged into mourning as a woman and her daughter both died following the ingestion of poison.

One of the two cases is being treated as suicide.

Based on information gathered, the woman and her daughter were discovered on Wednesday after the ingestion of the poison.

The elderly woman,  Liloutie Baker, also known as ‘Kamo,’ of Warren Village, Corentyne, died on Wednesday evening while her adult daughter who suffered from a disability succumbed on Friday.

As of yesterday, relatives said that they were still coming to terms with the situation. Post mortem examinations are expected to be carried out in the new week.

In September, 2021, Baker’s house was invaded by two armed bandits.

She had told Stabroek News that one of the men ended up in a struggle with her husband, Franklyn Baker, also known as ‘Frankie,’ and attempted to cut his throat with a cutlass.
