The annual Jamzone Summer Break at the Splashmins Fun Park & Resort, at Madewini on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway is scheduled to take place today. As such, in anticipation of the expected increase in the volume of traffic the Guyana Police Force has issued an advisory in an effort to maintain the safety of all road users in the vicinity.
The public is being advised that the Linden/Soesdyke highway will facilitate two lanes of traffic, between the parking lot north of Splashmins Resort and the creek parking lot south of Splashmins Resort.
The advisory emphasised that there will be strictly no parking and no vending in the aforementioned zone.
However, beyond the area mentioned above, parking on both shoulders of the road will be permitted and this will be supervised by traffic ranks.
The police also have also taken the opportunity to advise persons to make use of carpooling, wear brightly coloured clothing during the hours of darkness, wear safety helmets at all times, and do not drink and drive.
The release appealed to motorists using the Linden/Soesdyke Highway to do so in a safe manner, always remember to look out for all road users, adhere to the five ‘Cs’ of driving, and exercise patience getting to and from the event, while maintaining the speed limit.
Motorists are also reminded to have in their possession, all requisite documents, including and vehicle passes, and that traffic ranks will be out in their numbers to ensure the safety of all.
