Elderly care in Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) will receive a much needed boost when Traceyann Vanhersel launches her business venture, Sisters Care Home Care Service, in early September along with co-owner Thiffeny Mackenzie.
This initiative promises to bring much-needed support and love to the elderly and disabled members of the community. Vanhersel, a 34-year-old single mother with a profound passion for elderly care, embodies the spirit of dedication and community service.
With a robust educational background from the Venezuela Institute, where she completed courses in elderly care, child care, CPR, and fundamental care, Vanhersel has spent over nine years honing her skills in home care.
The former receptionist at Guyenterprise said that her transition to caregiver was easy. Being a receptionist was not pleasing and satisfactory to Vanhersel and she had begun caring for a relative before venturing into the profession and thus discovered her true calling. This experience not only brought her comfort and relaxation but also a deep sense of purpose.
Recognizing her passion and aptitude for caregiving, Vanhersel became immersed in it and later began working towards her long-held dream of opening her own business. She is now on the cusp of launching this ambitious venture, aimed at providing high-quality care to the elderly and disabled in her hometown.
Vanhersel’s journey began with a vision and a commitment to putting action into everything she does, driven by love. “I find myself being comfortable with caring for elderly people and sharing love,” she said. “We all need love.”
Sisters Care Home Care Service will offer a wide range of services, including home health care, medical management, home care assistance with medications, blood pressure and blood sugar monitoring, bathing, and dressing. Vanhersel and Mackenzie are dedicated to providing high-quality home care services that enable their clients to live independently and comfortably in their own homes.
The long-term goal is to establish a nursing home where families can leave their loved ones, knowing they are receiving the best care, love, and support and as the business progresses the small team intends to open an office in Georgetown.
Vanhersel believes that supporting each other’s businesses is crucial for growth. “My point of view on small business is that we need to support each other’s business and business will grow,” she said.
As she ventures into her new chapter, her words of encouragement are that it’s never too late to believe in yourself and that all it takes is one step at a time. The single mother explained that life is sometimes difficult but her family plays an important role in her life as she strives for better.
