In keeping with its mandate of monitoring local content within the petroleum sector, the Director of the Local Content Secretariat (LCS), Dr Martin Pertab, and Secretariat staff visited Halliburton last Friday.
A release from the Ministry of Natural Resources said that the LCS team met with students from the various Technical Institutes currently participating in the paid internship programme, which is geared at upskilling Guyanese for the oil and gas industry. The students are benefiting from on-the-job training and mentorship from experts in their respective fields.
The release said that the LCS also visited OMNI, a company in the aviation sector. “The LCS team was glad to learn of the many training programmes in place to help build local capacity in the industry”, the release said.
