Jeenarine, Persaud bowls Bel Air to 67-run victory over Ace Warriors

Despite rain wiping out most of the first day of their encounter against the Ace Warriors, Bel Air Rubis managed to bowl their opponents out twice on the second day to complete a 67-run victory in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA)/Friends of Cricket 2-Day 2nd Division competition.

After bowling out Bel Air for just 101 a day prior, the Ace Warriors turned in an even worse performance in their 1st innings effort, bowled out for 80 in 28.3 overs to concede a 21 run 1st innings deficit at the QC Ground. Only Damani Thomas (24), Lawrence Pellew (13) and Terrance King (19) made any substantial scores as the rest of Ace Warriors batsmen did not get past six runs.

Travis Persaud wrecked the Warriors, capturing 4/7 from 4 overs while Mahindra Jeenarine supported with 3/9 from his 8 overs.

Batting for a second time and with a lead of 20 runs, Bel Air Rubis were rolled over for 91 in 27.3 overs, effectively setting the Ace Warriors just 112 for victory. Ajay Gainda (26) and Mahindra Singh (37) started things solidly but their departure sparked a collapse of epic proportions as Bel Air plummeted from 51/2 to 91 all out. Emmanuel Martin was the architect of the collapse, snaffling 7/28 from 7.3 overs to do the damage.

However, it was a total that proved more than enough in the end as Jeenarine sank the Warriors, helping to bowl them out with figures of 7/12 from 7.3 overs, ending with a match haul of 10/21 (15.3 overs).

So horrendous was the Warriors 2nd innings that no batter passed 9 runs, the side demolished at 40 all out in just 15.3 overs.

The competition which resumed over the last weekend will continue in the coming weeks as the GCA moves to complete a few unfinished tournaments.
