Man wanted over fatal stabbing of cousin at Sandhill

The Guyana Police Force yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for a Sandhill, Upper Berbice River resident over the fatal stabbing of his cousin, Francis Sukhu last week.

Sukhu, 23 of Sandhill, Upper Berbice River was reportedly stabbed at Sand Hill, Upper Berbice River last Monday after 5 pm.

The Guyana Police Force yesterday said that the suspect, Anthonio Benedict was wanted for Sukhu’s murder. 

Anyone with information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest police station.

Stabroek News previously reported that Sukhu and the suspect were liming with some friends at a shop imbibing alcohol where an argument suddenly ensued during which the suspect was reportedly slapped.

The suspect then left and returned armed with a pair of scissors which he used to deal Sukhu five stab wounds about his body resulting in him collapsing to the ground.

Sukhu was then rushed to a medic who discovered that there was no pulse after which he was subsequently taken to the Linden Hospital Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Sukhu’s mother, Tabitha Benjamin of Fort Ordnance, East Canje Berbice, had told this newspaper that she received news last Monday evening that her son had passed away. She said, initially she thought he was involved in a motorcycle accident of some kind, however, she was later informed that her son had been stabbed.
