Twenty-two-year-old Mario Smith appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday where he was charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
Smith pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It was alleged that on August 24, he had in his possession 269.3 grammes of cannabis.
The prosecutor told the court that Smith is known to police. On the day in question ranks acting on information went to Lombard Street in Georgetown where they observed the defendant acting in a suspicious manner. He was approached and during a search of his person, ranks discovered the suspected narcotic.
