Unlicensed Stanleytown rider fined for charges including assault of cop

Shamar Holligan of Lot 54 Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, Berbice was on Tuesday fined $155,000 for a series of offences including being an unlicensed biker and assaulting a cop.

A release yesterday from the police said that he was  arrested on August 24th, 2024 for being an unlicensed rider among other offences.

 On Tuesday, he appeared at the Albion Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Michelle Matthias, where he pleaded guilty to all the offences.

He was fined as follows:

(1) Obscured I.D. mark (front)- $100,000

(2) Assault of a peace officer – $20,000

(3) Failure to conform to a sign — $5,000

(4) Restriction on the use of hand-held mobile devices – $5,000

(5) Riding an unlicenced motor vehicle – $5,000

(6) Riding a motor cycle without wearing a safety helmet – $5,000

(7) Riding an uncertified motor vehicle – $5,000

((8) Riding an uninsured motor vehicle – $5,000

(9) Being an unlicensed rider – $5,000

He paid a total fine of $155,000
