As part of the Guyana Police Force’s efforts to foster better community relations and to make Information Technology accessible across the regions, it on Friday commissioned the Zara Computer Centre at Lethem in Region Nine.
The Jay and Sylvia Sobhraj Foundation constructed the centre in collaboration with the Guyana Police Force (GPF). The Foundation has built a number of similar centres across the country. The centre is equipped with two computer labs, which will accommodate thirty-two persons each and will be staffed by the Guyana Police Force, a release from the GPF said.
The foundation strives to diversify its work to include development in education, community programming, and technology that is equipped to meet the needs of youths, ranks and members of the Rupununi region who are desirous of pursuing education.
Present at last Friday’s commissioning ceremony were Jay Sobhraj and Silvia Sobhraj, Nardeo Singh, Magistrate Omadatt Chandan, Vice Chairman Bertie Xavier, Coordinator of the GPF Zara Computer Centres ASP Gladwin Hanover, Lieutenant Roach, and other Senior and Junior ranks of the Guyana Police Force.
