Massy Gas Products (Guyana) Limited says it is ready to aid in the probe of an explosion of a 20-lb cylinder that allegedly belonged to it.
In a notice in yesterday’s Stabroek News, Massy said it is “anxiously awaiting … possession of the cylinder to carry out a complete testing”.
The notice referred to an incident at a home on 1st August, 2024. It said that it had visited the family in question and had expressed sympathies to the husband of the occupant who was injured.
“Upon learning of the incident, the company immediately initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause. Our safety team and an independent subject matter expert have been working diligently to gather all relevant information including evidence from the site. We stand ready and willing to assist the relevant authorities as required to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation to ascertain what may have caused the incident”, the notice said.
It added that the company adheres to the “highest safety standards and rigorous quality control measures in the manufacturing, distribution, and handling” of LPG cylinders and these are comprehensively tested and certified and that the integrity of the cylinder and its contents are verified before delivery.
It added that customer support representatives are available at 600-0839 to address any concerns.
