Dear Editor,
I read statement from the Guyana Police Force issued on Thursday August 29, 2024, which states that the “Guyana Police Force is currently investigating another serious allegation made under the Sexual (Offences) Act of Guyana by a female against Paul Slowe”. I am not aware of any such allegation. No such allegation was put to me at any time.
In relation to the second part of the statement, I was charged on May 19, 2021, with three counts of sexual assault. The complainant alleged that on March 26 and 29 and April 2, 2019, I rubbed her leg on three separate occasions during meetings at Police Headquarters, Eve Leary, at which several other persons were present. The allegations are false. These charges last came up in the Georgetown Magistrate Court on August 20, 2024, for report. On that date the Magistrate sent the matter to Georgetown Magistrate Court 3 for report and fixture on September 23, 2024.
I have been using social media to keep the public informed of the progress of these charges. I have never attacked the complainant, nor in any way shape or form intimidated, or attempted to intimidate the complainant. Nothing that I have said on social media, or anywhere else, in relation to these charges can be remotely construed as intimidation. I see the statement by the police as a desperate attempt to intimidate and silence me and to tarnish my impeccable reputation. They will not succeed.
I have provided my lawyers with a copy of the statement referred to above. As I have stated repeatedly, Justice delayed is justice denied! I continue to anxiously look forward to my day in court to clear my name.
Sincerely,
Paul Slowe CCH, DSM
Assistant Commissioner of Police
(Ret’d)
Chairman of the Police Service
Commission (Former)
