On Saturday, August 31, 2024, machinery operated by contractors from Guyamerica Construction Inc., working at Dumpsite Road East of the Eccles/Haags Bosch roundabout, came into contact with GPL’s network causing serious damage.
As a result, customers east of the Eccles/Haags Bosch roundabout have experienced a service interruption.
The Guyana Power and Light (GPL) said in a release that it is mobilizing resources to rectify the damage and restore power.
GPL once again reminds Contractors (Building, Drainage and Irrigation and Land Development) who wish to work close to the company’s network should contact GPL on 226 2600 or 0475 at least 72 hours before commencing.
Contractors who damage the company’s network will be held responsible for the cost of repairs, GPL said.
