As we make the roads these trucks destroy them

Dear Editor,

I have repeatedly written that this PPP government’s idea of development is to spend money on overpriced infrastructure projects it hands out to crony contractors. Most believe this involves drawbacks as they witness inferior project works.

All this talk of fastest growing economy has no bearing on the lives of the average Guyanese. Even the ad-hoc handout is full of corruption and benefits the selected few. One area of stark raving stupidity is allowing the importation of trucks with over 50 tons capacity. As we make the roads these trucks destroy them. Right now, extensive work is being done on the Coldingen road which was damaged by these vehicles.

It is clear that the oil money is not trickling down to the small man as the growing gap between the haves and have nots is widening rapidly.

Yours faithfully,
