Benn, Trotz guides Officers to handsome win

ASP Trevor Benn and C/O Ivor Trotz turned in commendable all-round performances to lead Officers to a commanding seven-wicket victory over Region #10 when the Guyana Police Force Commissioner’s T20 Championship continued on Friday at the Eve Leary ground.

Benn and Trotz shared six wickets between them, with Trotz taking the first hat-trick in the tournament, as Region #10 were bowled out for 83 in 16.4 overs after they opted to bat first.

ASP Stephen Harris provided Officers with the breakthrough by uprooting the stumps of C/O Beauvn Brathwaite without scoring, while Benn removed fellow opener C/O Miguel Vaughn (11), leaving the score at 28-2.

C/O Lawrence Sears offered some resistance, striking four boundaries before he was run out for 31. ASP Troy Benn then picked up two quick wickets to put Region #10 in further trouble at 71-5.

Trevor and Trotz then combined

to destroy the rest of the batting, with Trotz taking 3-3 from two overs and Trevor snaring 3-12 from three overs. Troy had 2-20. 

In response, Officers lost three quick wickets in the chase to be reduced to 16-3, but Trevor and Trotz put on 68 for the fourth wicket to give their team victory.

Trevor top-scored with 36 from 20 balls with two fours and a similar number of sixes, while Trotz made 20 from 12 balls with one four and a six. Sgt. Travis Fullington took 2-11.

Meanwhile, Region #3 defeated Tactical Services Unit (TSU) by 47 runs on Thursday at the same venue. Batting first, Region #3 recovered from a shaky start to post a commendable 132/7. Oyono Sampson top scored with 22 runs, while Fazeer Khan, Jason McAlmont, and R. Chattergoon supported with 19, 18, and 17 runs, respectively. D. Sardina was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3-14.

TSU in response was bundled out for 85 in 15.4 overs. Eon Rodrigues and P. Wilburg scored 21 and 14 runs, respectively. P. Edwards and R. Ramnarine snared three wickets each, while the duo of Khan and T. Dhanpaul recorded two wickets each.
