Welding and Fabrication trainees in the Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo region are currently designing and constructing six modern outdoor metal benches for the Lethem Fitness Park.

A release yesterday from the Ministry of Labour said that this initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to enhancing the wellness and well-being of the residents and those in neighbouring communities. It also falls under the National Beautification Project.

During his recent visit to the region, Minister of Labour, Joseph Hamilton, met with the welding and fabrication trainees to review the progress of their ongoing project. Hamilton commended the trainees, emphasizing that this project is a vital component of the practical training programme.

This initiative follows a similar one by past trainees of the Board of Industrial Training (BIT), who created metal benches that were installed at the ‘I Love Lethem’ Roundabout, commissioned in 2023.
