Former clerk charged with larceny of over $15m from employer

A clerk formerly employed by Beepats was yesterday charged with 24 counts of larceny committed over the course of 2023 and this year and amounting to over $15 million.

The accused, 20-year-old Jimmacie Jacob of Unity, La Grange, East Coast Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where 22 charges were read to her. She was granted bail set at $800,000.

The charges against Jacob allege that between September 25, 2023, and February 2024, in Georgetown, while employed at Beepats, and on 22 separate occasions, she stole a total of $15,486,581, belonging to her employer.
