The Special Constabulary has added fifty-one new constables to its number.
The Guyana Police Force Academy on September 2, 2024, held a graduation at the Officers’ Training Centre, Camp Street for the new constables.
A release from the police said that the ranks underwent 10 weeks of intense training. They completed modules in Introduction to Policing, Information Technology at Zara Computer Centre, Foot Drills, and Firearm Training. To complete this course, each rank had to secure a passing grade of 60%.
The Academy’s Director, Woman Superintendent Sonia Herbert, congratulated the ranks on their performance.
“As Special Constabulary ranks, you have a great responsibility to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your fellow citizens,” she implored.
Special Constable 16640 Tenisha Nedd secured the valedictorian award with 94%. Special Constables 16632 Stephine Parris and 16622 Jane Jack, who both scored 93%, were the first and second runners-up, respectively. All of the ranks received completion certificates.
