That Leonora liquor establishment/nightclub seems rather impervious to the sufferings of the community

Dear Editor,

Reference is made to Mr. Jai Lall’s letter in your Sept 4, 2024 news print. I do recall that only a few weeks ago, Mr. Jai Lall wrote a compelling narrative replete with a picture perfect description of this particular liquor establishment/ nightclub, situated in the residential area of Leonora and the agony being endured by and perpetrated to the citizens of community, with no surcease or intervention. He is screaming for help for the community and reverberating the silent screams of most of the community!

Apparently, there seems the dereliction of duty or complicity by members of the different state agencies responsible for compliance/enforcement of the applicable laws/ ordinances. As a reminder- employees of state agencies are paid by taxes derived from the Guyanese taxpayers’ hard earned dollars and Guyanese should expect a premium return on their investment in these State Agencies. Ironically, this particular liquor-establishment/ nightclub is less than half a mile away from President Ali’s residence!

I can attest to every single nuance, syllable, word, adjective, situational effrontery described by Mr. Jai Lall and was crossing my fingers in the hope that after his first missive, the relevant agencies would have acted independently or together. Alas, his second letter nixed my hope. Over to President Ali. The State Agencies are ultimately answerable to the President and the buck stops at him.  One Guyana!

Sincerely,

Jonathan Subrian, Esq.
