The inaugural edition of the Campbellville Village Cup Street-ball Championship will commence tomorrow at the Campbellville Tarmac.
The event, which will last for the duration of seven days and will utilise an initial group stage format, features 24 competing teams. They are Z-Tech Family, Campbellville, Sparta Boss, Back Circle A, Victoria, Back Circle B, Mocha Family, Street Warriors, Red Force, Street Vybz, Stabroek Ballers, Kitty Hustlers, Tiger Bay, Albouystown, California Square, North East La Penitence, North Ruimveldt, Pike Street, Sophia, Bent Street, Gold is Money, Leopold Street, Team Cruel, and Lodge All-Stars.
In the opening match at 19:00hrs, California Square will oppose North Ruimveldt, while Leopold Street will take aim at Red Force at 19:30hrs. In the third encounter, North East La Penitence will match skills with Pike Street at 20:00hrs, with Campbellville locking horns with Victoria at 20:30hrs.
In the final two matches, Tiger Bay will face-off against Team Cruel at 21:00hrs, while Z-Tech Family will match skills against Street Warriors at 21:30hrs.
Meanwhile, the second night of action will occur on September 12th at the same venue.
Albouystown will take aim at Lodge All-Stars at 19:00hrs, with Kitty Hustlers opposing Stabroek Ballers at 19:30hrs and Gold is Money facing off against Sophia at 20:00hrs. Sparta Boss will then face-off against Back Circle B at 20:30hrs, while Back Circle A opposes Mocha Family at 21:00hrs, and Bent Street battles Street Vybz at 21:30hrs.
The other playing dates are: September 14th, 19th, 21st, and 26th, with the final pencilled for the 28th. The winner of the event will receive $300,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third, and fourth-place finishers will pocket $150,000, $75,000, and $25,000, respectively, and the corresponding accolade.
