Police ranks in Regional Division #5 on Thursday apprehended a 43-year-old teacher of No.5 Village, West Coast Berbice with 25,401 kilogrammes (56 lbs) of suspected cannabis in his possession.
Ranks were in the vicinity of the Rosignol Stelling area when they observed a silver-gray fielder wagon bearing registration number PAB 7365 coming out of the Cabbage Factory Koker area.
The vehicle was stopped and a search requested which unearthed two bulky brown bags containing five parcels wrapped with transparent plastic containing what is suspected to be cannabis.
The driver was then cautioned and arrested and escorted to the Blairmont Police Station. The parcels, when weighed, amounted to 25,401 kilogrammes.
The suspected narcotics were marked, sealed, and lodged along with the motor car at the said station.
The 43-year-old remains in custody as investigations continue.
