It is heartbreaking to hear about more drownings, especially at a popular spot. This tragic event highlights the need for constant vigilance around water, especially when children are present. While personal responsibility is crucial, there’s also an opportunity for the government to step in. Expanding part-time employment programmes to include lifeguard training and placement at beaches and creeks could significantly improve safety for everyone.
