Armed robbery accused slapped with seven more charges

Elijah Martin, who was previously charged with two counts of armed robbery, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday to face an additional seven robbery-related charges.

Martin, who participated in the court session via Zoom, is accused of a series of robberies that occurred on August 16.

The first charge alleges that on August 16 at D’Urban Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, Martin, while in the company of others and armed with a gun, robbed Imran Ally of a cellphone and cash totalling $65,000. Martin pled not guilty to this charge.

On the same date and location, Martin was accused of robbing Angelique Adams of a phone valued at $55,000 and a pair of pink AirPods worth $6,000. He pled guilty to this charge.

Martin was also charged with robbing Jason Glasgow of a wallet valued at $9,000 and $30,000 in cash. He pleaded not guilty to this charge.

In another incident on August 16, at the Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown, Martin while armed with a gun, allegedly robbed Jermain Shripaul of a gun valued at $550,000 and 17 live rounds of 9mm ammunition. He pleaded not guilty to this charge.

Martin is also accused of attempting to commit a felony while armed with a gun on the same day. He allegedly attempted to rob Terrence Dean. He pled not guilty to this charge as well.

The final charge against Martin states that on August 16, at Avenue of the Republic, he was found in possession of a .32 Taurus pistol and two live rounds of .32 ammunition without being a licensed firearm holder. Martin again pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor maintained the objections to bail and Martin was further remanded to prison until October 23.
