A 58-year-old electric bike rider died after falling into a pothole on the Railway Embankment Road, in the vicinity of UG road, East Coast Demerara.
Dead is Dexter Jacobs of Lot 193 South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara. Jacobs’s friend, Aubrey Clement told Stabroek News that Jacobs was on his way to the Guyana Revenue Authority to register his e-bike that his sister recently bought for him when the incident occurred.
According to Clement, it was not the first time that Jacobs rode the bike. He relayed that Jacobs was still familiarising himself with riding the bike, and also disclosed that earlier that day, Jacobs was drinking alcohol at the shop where they usually hang out together, and then they went to another shop where Jacobs continued to drink.
