Policy Forum launches educational game to promote eco-awareness

Policy Forum Guyana (PFG) has  launched an environmental education game, Eco-Uno, as a key component of PFG’s Embracing a 1.5°C Lifestyle Campaign, aimed at promoting sustainable living practices across Guyana.

PFG is a non-governmental organisation established in 2015. Its mandate is to focus primarily on accountability and transparency issues related to natural resources, climate change, and extractive industries whilst promoting environmental education through the 1.5° lifestyle.

This was announced on Friday in a release from PFG, which also informed that the launch took place at the Amerindian Peoples Association (APA) Ina Maimu Yetatokon conference held at the Guyana Marriott Hotel in Kingston, Georgetown, and received enthusiastic reactions from Indigenous leaders, students, teachers, youth groups, and diplomats.

According to the release, Eco-Uno merges classic card game mechanics with environmental themes, encouraging players to tackle real-world sustainability challenges as they play. Action cards such as Stop Pollution and Draw Trees introduce concepts like pollution control and reforestation in an interactive manner.

Project Coordinator of PFG, Benita Davis, further explained, “Eco-Uno is more than just a game—it’s a meaningful educational experience that connects environmental issues with everyday actions. We are excited to see how it will inspire youth and communities to become proactive in their environmental advocacy.”

Eco-Uno is now part of a suite of impactful initiatives under the 1.5°C Lifestyle Campaign, which also includes: Advocacy and Influencer Toolkit – empowering leaders and influencers to champion sustainability; Wayne’s Plastic Predicament Storybook – engaging younger audiences with the story of plastic pollution; and Green Screen Video Series – showcasing eco-friendly practices in businesses to promote sustainable operations.
