Belle West and the No. #1 All-Stars recorded contrasting victories when the West Demerara Football Association Senior Men’s League continued yesterday at the Uitvlugt ground.
Belle West brushed aside Wales by a 3-1 score. Daniel Gibson broke the deadlock in favour of the eventual victor with a fourth-minute strike. Jeremiah Duke then doubled their advantage as he made his presence felt in the 11th minute.
Wales would eventually reduce the deficit in the form of Trison Roberts, who scored in the 37th minute. The score remained unchanged heading into the halftime interval. Upon the resumption, Duke recorded the only conversion of the period, as he completed his brace in the 64th minute.
On the other hand, the No. #1 All-Stars squeaked past newcomer Uprising by a 1-0 score. Rod Chichester crafted the only conversion of the contest, as he etched his name on the score-sheet in the 12th minute. The event continues today at the same venue with another doubleheader.
