American Fabiano Caruana was one of grandmasters scoring wins on Thursday in Round Two of 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. Two others were Gukesh Dommaraju of India and Hungary’s Richard Rapport.

According to Chess.com, World Champion Ding Liren was held to a draw, while Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen sat out round two. With regard to teams, 50th seed Canada held 6th seed Norway to a 2-2 draw.   Among the women, Lithuanian International Master Olena Martynkova (2176) beat Ukrainian International Master Yuliia Osmak (2471) in what the website called an “upset”.
