– GT Kanaimas claim women’s title

Paruima of Region #7 and GT Kanaimas of Region #4 won the men’s and women’s crowns, respectively, in the Amerindian Heritage Games Football Championship last evening at the Everest Cricket Ground on Carifesta Avenue and Camp Street.

In the men’s final, Paruima of Region #7 defeated Moruca of Region #1 by a 3-1 score. Andrew Simmons crafted a hat-trick in the 48th, 53rd, and 63rd minutes to settle the encounter. For the loser, Nelon Lucas scored in the 42nd minute.

In the women’s final, GT Kanaimas of Region #4 defeated Region #9 5-0. Glendy Lewis bagged a double in the 21st and 24th minutes, while the trio of Lisandra Henrito, Angelis Lawson, and Jalade Trim scored in the 42nd, 53rd, and 55th minutes, respectively.
