Man fatally stabbed at Kairuni during brawl, several injured

Police have arrested three teenagers in connection with the killing  of Harry Brown, 24, which occurred at Kairuni on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway at about 01:30 hrs on Sunday.

According to the police, a 23-year-old female from Kairuni Village said that she and the victim worked together and stayed in the same residence. She said that on 2024/9/14 at about 19:00hrs, she and Brown left home together and went to the Amerindian Heritage Month event hosted at the ball field in Kairuni village. While there, they drank alcoholic beverages.

A fight subsequently broke out, and Brown attempted to separate the persons fighting when a 15-year-old suspect, who was in company with others, attacked Brown with a knife, wounding him in his abdomen and right hand. Two other persons were stabbed in the abdomen the brawl and later admitted as patients at the GPHC. The suspects fled the scene.

At about 21:00hrs on Sunday, acting on information, a Police patrol team swooped down on a home in Moblissa Village, where they arrested the main suspect, 15 years, along with two other teenagers (ages 17 and 19). The three teenagers are in custody, assisting with the investigations. Meanwhile, Leandra Elliot, the mother of Brown, described her son as someone who never sought trouble. According to Elliot, Brown had left work early that evening to attend the heritage celebrations. While at the event, he encountered a friend involved in a minor altercation with another individual. In his attempt to intervene and separate the two, Brown was fatally injured.
