Police destroy over $17m in cannabis on Berbice River

The police over the weekend destroyed over $17m in cannabis after a farm was discovered during a raid in the Berbice River.

According to information gathered, ranks attached to the Region Six division successfully conducted an eradication exercise at Bartica in the Berbice River, during which a cannabis farm was found.

The farm was approximately seven acres in size with about fifty thousand plants ranging from three inches to six feet in height.  Police also discovered a quantity of farming tools, three camps, and ten live 12 gauge cartridges.

The cannabis plants, along with the farming tools and camps, were destroyed by fire while the cartridges were lodged at the police station. No arrest was made at the location.
