Police raid nets murder suspect, firearm, ammunition

A murder suspect and a serial armed robbery suspect have been apprehended after police conducted a raid  in Regional Division 4A.

According to a Guyana Police Force release, the raid which took place on Monday between 04.00 and 13.00 hours also netted an illegal Glock 9mm pistol and ten rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Several persons and houses were searched during the police operation which targeted the following areas – Independence Boulevard, North Ruimveldt, Stevedore Housing Scheme, Guyhoc Park, D’Urban Backlands, East Ruimveldt, South Ruimveldt, Albouystown, Norton Street, D’Urban Street, Castello Housing Scheme, Leopold Street, Kitty, and Sophia (A, B, C, D & E fields). Nicholas Singh, called ‘Pookie’, 25, of Lot 1818 D’Urban Street, who was wanted by the police for the murder of Natram Persaud, which occurred on December 31, 2023, at Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara, was caught and arrested.

Lorenzo Heywood, 20, of Lot 52 Coldingen, East Coast Demerara, who was wanted by police for several armed robberies, was also arrested.

Rondell Vanrossum, 45, of Lot 56 Norton Street, Lodge, was arrested with an unlicensed Glock 9mm pistol and ten rounds of 9mm ammunition, while Julian Aaron, 51, of Lot 501 East Ruimveldt, was arrested with a quantity of ammunition.
