Two families were left in a state of confusion after there was a major mix-up with the bodies of their deceased relatives resulting in one being cremated by the wrong family over the weekend.
On Sunday, the relatives of Rohan Kuma, 75, a re-migrant of Number 62 Village, performed his last rights and cremated what they believed was his body. However, on Monday it was discovered that the body was actually of another deceased from the area.
Kuma’s relatives who asked to remain anonymous explained that both bodies were at a funeral parlour in Number 60 Village, Corentyne.
The relative said after their cremation on Monday, they were informed that the wrong body was cremated.
