Pele further extended their lead atop the standings in the Georgetown Football Association Senior Men’s League, dismantling Black Pearl by a 4-1 score at the Guyana Football Federation National Training Centre in Providence.
The rout commenced in the 17th minute, as Denzel Junior etched his name on the scorer-sheet. Junior then doubled his team’s lead as he completed his brace with a 29th-minute conversion. Black Pearl reduced the deficit at 1-2 in the 44th minute in the form of a Julian Bamfield.
Upon the resumption, Solomon Austin restored Pele’s two-goal advantage as he netted in the 50th minute. The result was then sealed in the 71st minute, as Akon DeSantos made his presence felt.
Meanwhile, the Northern Rangers upset defending champion Beacons 2-1. Two first-half goals from the Kitty-based unit were enough to secure the win. David Coates opened the scoring in the fourth minute, while Peter Perez found the back of the net in the 40th minute.
Anthony Abrams was able to reduce the deficit in the 54th minute for the defending champion. However, the Northern Rangers backline denied Beacons in their bid to restore parity to proceedings to seal the victory.
Due to the outcome, Northern Rangers climb into fourth place on
10 points, while Beacons remain in second place on 11 points.
On the other hand, Vengy and Camptown played a 1-1 stalemate. David Escobar handed Vengy the initial lead, as he recorded the only conversion in the 15th minute. However, Camptown would earn a share of the spoils as Otto Jones levelled proceedings in the 87th minute.
With the result, Vengy climbs into third place on 11 points, while Camptown remains in eighth place on seven points.
