The Petra Organisation, the coordinators of the Pee Wee Boy’s U-11 Football Championship, conducted a team briefing and ball distribution exercise yesterday for the competing teams at the National Library ahead of the event’s kickoff on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Each school in attendance received a ball to aid in their preparation for the tournament.
Troy Mendonca, Co-Director of the Petra Organisation, praised the teachers and coaches for their unwavering support and commitment to the tournament, noting that the continued growth of the event might necessitate the staging of zonal qualifiers in the future given the overwhelming response from the schools to participate.
He further noted that the event has provided several players to the national grid, which further underlines its importance.
Meanwhile, Courts Optical Manager Richard Simpson said that the company is pleased to be associated with the tournament following a partnership of 11 years, noting that the event has developed into the marquee sports event at this age group.
Also, Operations Engineer of Stena Drilling Limited Alberto Leonard said that the company believes and advocates for the investment in youth, as fostering their passion and drive is vital to their development.
He further said that the event provides an ideal platform for players to not only showcase their talents but to develop important traits such as discipline and camaraderie.

Pollard, North Georgetown, Marian Academy, Winfer Garden, West Ruimveldt, Tucville, Enterprise, St. Gabriel’s, Colaaco, School of the Nations, Georgetown International Academy; [Region #1] Santa Rosa; [Region #2] Tapakuma Lake, Kabakaburi; [Region #3] Genesis, Tuschen, Den Amstel, Leonora; [Region #4 – East Bank Demerara] Soesdyke, St. Mary’s, Friendship; [Region #4 – East Coast Demerara] Anns Grove, Plaisance, Golden Grove; [Region #5] Rosignol, Bella Drum; [Region #6] All Saints, St. Aloysius; [Region #7] Potaro, St. John the Baptist, Batavia; and [Region #10] One Mile.
