Twenty-six-year-old Nick Wellington appeared yesterday before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of break and enter and larceny.
Wellington plead not guilty to the offence.
It is alleged that on September 17, at Robb Street, Bourda, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Fareeza Dyal and stole the sum of $3 million cash along with one Amazon tablet valued at $22,000 and two six-pack of Corona beer valued $6,000, for a total value of $3,280,000.
The prosecution objected to bail citing the facts that the beer and Amazon tablet were recovered at the premises of Wellington, there is video footage of him leaving the property of the victim, the nature of the offence, and under caution, he told police that he stole the beer and the Amazon tablet.
Attorney-at-law Dominick Bess in his application for bail on behalf of the accused, assured the court that his client is not a flight risk and will abide by any conditions set by the court.
However, during court proceedings, the investigating rank informed that Wellington failed to provide a fixed address and when questioned about this by the magistrate, he was unable to provide an explanation. As a result Wellington was refused bail and the matter adjourned to October 11.
