Factory workers attached to the Rose Hall Estate have called off a strike after the corporation decided to replace the new production manager they had protested against.
Last week the previous production manager and head lab technician at the estate were fired. However, after workers were informed of the replacement for the production manager they became annoyed as they claimed that that person was previously stationed at the estate prior to its closure and was accused of turning a blind eye to the dumping of sugar and damaging of canes.
Factory workers who were on shift two Thursdays ago turned up to the estate but then proceeded to strike, while the same thing happened the following day.
