Thieves recently broke into Samtronix, a smartphone and electronic gadgets store located at 136 Regent Street, Georgetown, and carted off over $65 million of stock.

Investigations so far have revealed that the owner secured his building and when he returned on Monday he discovered that items were missing from his store. The commander confirmed that no arrest has been made in the matter and investigations are ongoing.
Speaking with Stabroek News, the owner, Shah Rukh Halai, related that on Monday around 10 am he received a call from his brother who works in the building next to his, alerting him that someone had entered his store and that he should come quickly to check to see if everything was ok.
Halai noted that on the Sunday in question, he secured his shop and on Monday, since it was Youman Nabi, no one worked. “When we came, we saw that the shop was robbed.” He stated that there were no CCTV cameras to show who had burgled his business and items in the store were scattered all over the floor. He disclosed that some $65 million worth of items were taken, including laptops, cellphones, Sony X-Box gaming systems, speakers, and digital video recorders.
The owner emphasised that he just wants his items back since they are worth millions of dollars. Sam-tronix has several other branches in Georgetown.
