St. Pius, Rosignol, St. John the Baptiste win on opening day

Pee Wee U-11 Football Championship

Defending champion St. Pius, as well as St. John the Baptist, and Rosignol stormed to comfortable wins when the 11th edition of the Pee Wee Boy’s U-11 Football Championship kicked-off yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.

St. John the Baptist thrashed Genesis 10-0. Kriston Chandler recorded a hat-trick in the third, sixth, and 32nd minutes, while Kareem Welcome tallied a three-goal haul in the seventh, 10th, and 40th minutes.

Adding a brace in the 23rd and 30th minutes was Marcellus Elvis, while Samany Harrison and Joel De Andrade netted in the 12th and 26th minutes, respectively.

Rosignol mauled Smith Memorial 7-0. Jeremiah McDonald crafted a hat-trick in the fifth, 30th, and 34th minutes, while Abdul Kadir bagged a double in the 10th and 16th minutes, and Jaime Burne recorded a brace in the 18th and 21st minutes.

St. Pius dismantled St. Mary’s 12-1. Jovaine Wright led the rout with a helmet trick in the third, seventh, 10th, and 40th minutes. He was supported by respective doubles from Roy Cassou [18th and 25th], Emmanuel Forte [27th and 30th], and Leon Crawford [32nd and 38th]. Adding goals in the 15th and 36th minutes apiece were Alee Younge and Akeem Quintin. For the loser, Dequacy Paul scored in the 21st minute.

In other results, Potaro defeated Redeemer 2-0 via goals from Kendrick La Rose and Colin Telemaque in the 14th and 28th minutes, respectively, while Marian Academy edged Georgetown International Institute (GIA) 2-1.
