A police operation led by Regional Division #7 uncovered illegal narcotics at a camp in Oku Backdam in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to a police press release, officers arrived at the site around 2:00 am to find 46-year-old Mark Ramdass, a resident of Bachelor’s Adventure, asleep in his bed. The police awakened Ramdass, the release said, and conducted a thorough search of the premises where they discovered a black plastic bag hidden inside a pillowcase. The bag contained a bottle filled with several rock-like substances believed to be cocaine, as well as plastic packets containing leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The release said that when informed of the charges against him, Ramdass reportedly stated, “Is me own, do a thing fo meh nah,” before being arrested and transported to the Bartica Police Station, where he is currently in custody.

Authorities reported the seized substances were 5.4 grammes of cocaine and 38.7 grammes of marijuana. Ramdass is expected to face charges related to drug possession in the coming days.
