Columnist Ralph Ramkarran has called for an “entrenched, law-based, programme of supplier diversity” in view of the vast expansion of public procurement.
Over the years, groups representing Afro-Guyanese in particular have complained about being excluded from public procurement.
Writing in the last Sunday Stabroek, Ramkarran said the level and value of public procurement has expanded to such an extent that considering the country’s ethnic diversity a structured programme to ensure diversity is “rapidly becoming a necessity”.
