Ryvan Francis, 46, was arrested on September 17th, 2024 and charged yesterday with the murder of Levoy Taljit between 23rd and 27th December 2012 at Soesdyke/Linden Highway,
The accused appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court #1 before Magistrate Wanda Fortune. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge and was remanded to prison.
The next court date for the disclosure of statements is set for October 9th, 2024.
On April 12, 2022, the police issued a wanted bulletin for Francis in relation to the murder of Taljit.
The wanted bulletin came eight days after a news item in Stabroek News about the unsolved case.
Taljit, a Guyana Energy Agency field manager at the time, is believed to have been killed sometime between December 23-24, 2013. His body has never been found.
Taljit of Anira Street, Queenstown mysteriously disappeared on December 23, 2012. He was last seen driving his Toyota Raum motor vehicle, PNN 8315, which was later found vandalised days after along the Linden-Soesdyke highway.
Hours before he went missing, Taljit was scheduled to go to the supermarket with his mother.
