A post-mortem examination conducted on Rushik Ramkarran, who was found in his house on Tuesday, revealed that he died as a result of blunt trauma to the head, consistent with a fall.
Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh performed the examination on Wednesday on the body of the 56-year-old labourer from Seventh Avenue, Bartica.
Ramkarran’s 33-year-old niece of First Avenue, Bartica, had reported to the police that the man had not been seen in several days.
In response, a team of police ranks proceeded to the address. Upon arrival, they observed that the door, which was the only entrance into the house, was bolted from the inside and a reddish substance (suspected to be blood) was observed flowing down the stairs.
The door was subsequently forced open, and Ramkarran was found lying face down in a decomposed state.
