Fire destroys Aurora Mining Company’s male dorm at Buck Hall – police

A fire of unknown origin has completed destroyed the male dormitory of the Aurora Mining Company at Buck Hall Landing, Essequibo River.

The police said in a statement that the fire started at about 4 pm yesterday and was contained at about 4.30 pm.

The dorm was a wooden building (25 feet in length and 20 feet in width). It was not supplied with electricity and was unoccupied at the time. The workers, security and policemen there formed a bucket brigade and extinguished the fire at about 4.30 pm. No injury was reported.

Investigations are ongoing.
