St. John the Baptist continued their impressive showing in the inaugural edition of the Bartica Inter-Primary League following commanding wins on Wednesday at the Community Centre ground.
In their first fixture of the match-day, St. John the Baptist thrashed Agatash by an 8-0 score. Kareem Welcome led the rout with a hat-trick, while Kristian Chandler and Orlando Degas recorded respective braces. Adding a goal was Neymar Edwards.
In their second match, St. John the Baptist brushed aside Potaro 4-0. Joel DeAndre amassed a brace in the lopsided affair, while Chandler and Welcome once again etched their name on the score-sheet with one conversion apiece.
Meanwhile, Falmouth also recorded two wins on the day. Falmouth edged Kartabo 1-0 in their first fixture. Ronaldo Pollard recorded the only conversion of the contest. In their second encounter, Falmouth bested Iteballi by a 2-0 score. Pollard opened the scoring, while Shem Benjamin sealed the result.
Also, Agatash rebounded from their earlier loss to defeat Kartabo 7-0. Vishal Charles amassed a helmet trick, while Justin Calvan registered a double. Chipping in with a conversion was Jake Calvan.
Potaro squeaked past Three Miles 2-1. Kenrick LaRose recorded a double for the eventual winner, while Neymar Moneer scored a consolation goal for the loser.
Meanwhile, Batavia defeated St. Anthony 1-0. Beron Goddett scored the only goal of the contest. Likewise, Karrau Creek edged Holy Name 1-0 via an Alvin DeCosta strike.
The tournament continues at the same venue with another round of matches on Wednesday, October 2nd. According to an initial correspondence from the Department of Education, who are the coordinators of the championship, the event features 11 teams from the Bartica and Lower Mazaruni areas.
