Wortmanville fire leaves two homeless

What was left of the back house after the fire

Two persons are now homeless at SS Hadfield Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown, after a fire that was allegedly started by a relative, completely destroyed one house while the two other homes in the yard were partially damaged.

A woman is in custody assisting with investigation following the incident, a source close to the Fire Service said.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tanisha Berkshira, who lived in one of the houses in the yard with her brother and three children, related to Stabroek News yesterday that she believes that the fire was maliciously set by her cousin who occupied the house next door. She disclosed that there is a family dispute involving the property they all had occupied.
