-Fitzburg miner tells police when held with firearm
On September 27, 2024, the police said that ranks from the Tactical Services Unit (TSU) were conducting enforcement duties at Five Stage Back Dam, North West District in Region One, when they arrested a gold miner who had in his possession an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The ranks, acting on information received, stopped a Hilux pick-up vehicle with serial # GJJ 9916, driven by David Phillips, a 52-year-old gold miner from Fitzburg, Port Kaituma. The vehicle had two other occupants: Allan John and Kester Peters, both gold miners.
The sergeant in charge of the operation informed Phillips, John, and Peters that the Police would like to search the vehicle and their person and requested them to identify their belongings.
