A Ministry of Public Works release on Friday stated that on Thursday, September 26, a consortium of companies from neighbouring Brazil paid a courtesy call on Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, to express their interest in and enthusiasm for, Guyana’s growing infrastructural industry.
The Brazilian businessmen showcased new and innovative technologies in the field of public infrastructure and brought with them samples of construction materials that are considered to be both more durable and sustainable than those traditionally used here; such as thermal blocks and products made of graphene.
The consortium included the following companies: ISONORTE – which offers services in the areas of modular construction, metal structures, thermal insulation, acoustic insulation and technical consulting; PLACON – specialises in commercial, industrial and residential construction; GSOON Technology Co. Ltd – offers science and technology services in the areas of research & development, production, sales, and technical services for low-rise prefabricated steel structures. Braxenergy – offers expertise in energy project development and construction; Fibra Para Concreto Ltda which specialises in fibres for strengthening concrete; VerGraf – which produces construction material made with graphene; as well as Sicredi Dexis, and Engenharia e Negocios.
According to the release, Edghill provided feedback on the information offered and encouraged his technical team to run tests on the samples provided and to expand their knowledge on the various building solutions discussed during the meeting. He also stated that the Government of Guyana is committed to efficiency and sustainability, and thanked the consortium for their visit.
