Two of the five suspects wanted over the abduction of Joshua David on Main Street turned themselves in to the police yesterday, Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum told Stabroek News.
Osafo Peters of William Street, Kitty, Georgetown, turned himself in in the company of a lawyer and the other is Alpha Poole of Lot 127 D’Aguiar Park, Georgetown. The three suspects who remain at large are: Aaron Alleyne, whose last known address is West Ruimveldt, Georgetown; Wayne Barker, whose last address was Lot ‘G’ Norton Street, Lodge, Georgetown and Dwayne Griffith, formerly of Lot 68 William Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
The abduction of David was captured on camera by someone in a vehicle who then forwarded the video to reporters yesterday. In the video, five men were seen pushing David across Main Street as he attempted to fight them off. The Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communication Unit Head, Mark Ramotar yesterday told reporters that the GPF is following all leads to locate David. The GPF is concentrating its search efforts in the Buxton backlands and other places. The GPF’s Communication Head did not disclose what those ‘other places’ were.
David was abducted on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from Main Street between Quamina and Middle Streets in Georgetown. Officers from Regional Divisions 4A and 4C began searching in the Buxton backlands, East Coast Demerara, as part of their ongoing investigation. Several ranks ventured into the Buxton backlands early Sunday morning with sniffer dogs in search of the missing man. The team spent hours combing the area but without success. A family member of David expressed distress over the situation, stating that the lack of communication from the police was causing even more anxiety.
